Fitness Programmes

After an initial health and fitness assessment where we will discuss your goals, assess your current level of fitness and things you would like to include (or avoid!) in your programme, I will plan a programme that will help you achieve your goals and one which you will enjoy.

Although everyone’s fitness programme will be different, there is often an element of all of the following at various stages throughout the training:

Warming up & stretching. Doing a good warm up and stretches will help to increase your flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.

Strength & toning work using handheld weights, or resistance bands. This is to train the major muscle groups in the body.

Cardio-vascular activity. This aims to increase your heart rate and work your heart and lungs. This might include walking, jogging, running or cycling, depending on what you enjoy.

Core strength training. Essential for improving posture. The stronger your core muscles are, the less likely you are to suffer with low back pain.

During every session we will make the most of local outdoor features such as nearby playground equipment, park benches, or the local hills and parks.

All my programmes are designed to you or your group's personal skills, experience level, and fitness interests -- perfect for the non-athletic! You will have the choice to train by yourself (i.e. personal training), or with a friend if you prefer. If you have just had a baby, I will provide a programme that makes sure he/she can be included in the session - so don’t worry about needing to find childcare. It’s amazing the exercises you can do with a pram to hold onto!
